Kairouan (Arabic: القيروان‎ About this sound Qeirwān, also known as al-Qayrawan), is the capital of the Kairouan Governorate in Tunisia. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site. The city was founded by the Umayyads around 670. In the period of Caliph Mu'awiya (reigned 661–680), it became an important centre for Sunni Islamic scholarship and Quranic learning, and thus attracting a large number of Muslims from various parts of the world, next only to Mecca and Medina. The holy Mosque of Uqba is situated in the city. The medina is an interesting and beautiful place to wander, especially in the late afternoon when the sun creates shadows, highlighting the charming and ornate doors, and the blue-and-green window shutters and balconies. Kairouan has always been a place of travellers, whether here for trade or the purposes of pilgrimage, a city accustomed to people from far-off lands.

We're a young couple who is having an affair with life, nature and sunlight. We love art, classic cinema, good food, traveling & seeking adventure off the grid. One day at a time.
